Proper filtration is a vital component in the high-level disinfection and storage of ultrasound probes. Replace filters in the ASTRA automated high-level disinfection system, GUS Disinfection Soak Stations, and Storage Cabinets regularly to maintain a clean environment and protect staff and patients from contaminants and harmful fumes.

GUS and ASTRA disinfection systems contain carbon filters that help remove odors and reduce staff exposure to disinfectant chemical vapors. The fan draws fumes into the carbon filter, where a chemical bonding occurs, trapping the disinfectant fumes and returning clean air to the room. If the filter is not regularly replaced, it loses effectiveness once the activated carbon is fully saturated. Replace carbon filters every six months for ASTRA Automated Probe Disinfection Systems and GUS Manual Disinfection Soak Stations.
